Came here with the family for a quick weekend getaway/fishing trip. The place was very very clean and the location is almost picturesque. As an Iowa native it’s hard to believe this is in my home state! We will be back with more friends and family for sure. Can’t wait for another fishing trip here.
Trout fishing in Eastern Iowa is one of my favorite activities and I use to stay here when I was younger. Now, I have had the opportunity to bring my son here a couple of times and to show him the joys of trout fishing. The rooms have been updated and are always very clean. The location to trout streams and Wings in Dorchester is great and the little extra for the kitchenette room is well worth it. I have noticed over the years more people fishing, streams changing and old spots no longer being there, and recently with a lack of rain I've had to spend more time in the room. That makes having a clean place to go to even more important for me and my son. A few opportunities to make it even better. Although some of these might be beyond the owner's control. 1. Twice now on the second night the internet service has gone out. 2. The walls are a little thin I was woken up between 4:30-5:00 AM by the person in the next room. 3. The water pressure in the shower made it a little difficult to get clean. 4. The tub drained really slow.
I have stayed at the Sportsman for over 20 years and find it very accommodating. The rooms are clean and the easy access to my work truck make the situation ideal for me. I always appreciate the personal service and the tranquility of the motel. I hope to stay there for many more years!
A well maintained, clean, comfortable place to stay. Minimal service so bring your own food. Well situated for NE Iowa outdoor activities.
I’m a travel nurse and have stayed at this location for an extended period. The Sportsmen has cabin vibes which my husband and I love! Very clean. The owner/staff have been so kind the entire stay. Somewhat secluded which is great in my book! Great fishing and I hear great hunting in this area also. If you find yourself in Iowa, tell them I sent you!
Came here for our hunting trip, perfect hotel while in Iowa hunting. Owner was very helpful and accommodating! Has a setup on the side of building with cleaning table and 4 gambrels. Comfy beds! Great stay!!
We enjoyed our stay at Sportsman Motel. It was cabinesque, clean, and reasonably priced. Also close to Caladonia which is lovely town. Thanks for everything.
The location is perfect. Very scenic area. The owner has a completely efficient system for reserving the room. The WiFi and television services were great, with perfect phone service. Room decor matches the scenic outdoors. I loved my stay here.
